Now the railway from Cusco to Machu Picchu is fully operational, we also have news of a new company operating trains on the line. Andean Railways, operating under the name Machu Picchu Train, have successfully completed their test runs and have achieved full certification from the Ministry of Transport.

Their first paying passengers will travel on 20th August and they plan to add two new carriages later in the year, allowing 250 passengers a day to travel on the service. This will let them provide serious competition for the incumbent Peru Rail (part of the Orient Express group) and other new operator Inca Rail.
