Rafting
Cusipata River (1 day)
Ready to rumble? Then let us take you on a full-day whitewater rafting trip on the Cusipata river, near to Cusco. It’s a Grade III trip, which means there’s plenty of thrills (and no doubt spills!) but you don’t need to have had any prior experience. You’ll return to Cusco in the evening - possibly a little damp but definitely happy!
Huambutio Rafting (2 days)
This 2-day trip takes us first to Huambutio (south east of Cusco), where the guide will give us a safety talk, as well as the necessary equipment for our rafting trip. We will start our journey, running Class III rapids downriver, and after a full day’s rafting we will head to our prepared campsite to relax and dry off!
Colca Rafting (2 days)
For some real white-water, the Colca Canyon is one of the best places in Peru, particularly in and just after the rainy season, when the Rio Colca is at its foamy best! This 2-day trip has us staying overnight in the heart of the Canyon so you can get 2 days' rafting under your belts.
Bikes and Horses
Mountain Biking in the Sacred Valley (1 day)
This trip takes us into the Sacred Valley to the village of Chinchero where we will unload the bikes and perform a final safety and equipment check, before embarking on our journey towards Lake Huaypo. After a short stop by the lake, we will begin a gradual descent towards Maras where we will stop to have our lunch, surrounded by great examples of the town’s colonial architecture. After lunch we continue onto Moray, where the Incas created an agricultural laboratory by building terraces of varying levels within natural depressions in the landscape. This allowed the Incas to adapt plants to higher altitudes which in turn allowed a greater quantity of food to be produced to feed a growing empire.
Downhill Biking on Chachani (1 day)
We will pick you up early this morning in our 4x4 as we head out of Arequipa on our journey to the Chachani volcano. We will drive through the lovely Salinas National Park before arriving in the mid-morning at the start of our biking route, on the slopes of Chachani, at nearly 5000m above sea-level. After a quick equipment check and briefing, we will set off on the first stage of our route, enjoying spectacular views as we zig-zag down a sandy track for 10km, descending nearly 1000m, before the track becomes firmer and flattens out for a further 16km. We will then stop for lunch and the chance to enjoy some more amazing views. After lunch we will set out on our major descent of the day, with the chance to build up some real speed as we drop nearly 2000m along a good firm track back into the Salinas National Park, where our 4x4 will be waiting to take us back to Arequipa.
Horseback tour of Cusco (half-day)
This option gives you a really fun way to enjoy some of Cusco's Inca ruins as we head up to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman and then through wooded paths in the surrounding hills on our way to visit some of the other Inca sites in the surrounding countryside, such as Tambomachay, Puka-pukara and K'enko.
Boarding
Sandboarding in Peru
The desert oasis of Huacachina is probably the best place in the world to try out the hottest new type of boarding: sandboarding! All you need to enjoy this is a specially-lubricated snowboard, some enormous sand-dunes to board down, and a taste for speed! You can also hire dune buggies to make getting back to the top that little bit easier...
Surfing in Peru
Peru's Pacific coast is blessed with some of the longest waves in the world, and has been home to countless international events. The best places are on the northern coast, at Chicama near Trujillo, and around Punta Sal and Mancora in the far notrth, although you will see people surfing on Lima's beaches as well.
