When is the Best Time to Visit Peru?
For most people, we advise that the best time to visit Peru is during the Andean dry season, which runs from March to November. While this is the Peruvian winter, the clear skies at this time of year mean beautiful sunny days at places like Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca, although it can get cold at night at those altitudes.
Our absolute favourite months are May and June, when you're likely to have good weather in most of the country, but everything is still lush and green after all the rain. In the Amazon this is a time of high water levels, making some parts of the jungle accessible which can be hard to reach later in the year. As an added incentive, things are generally less busy and you'll also usually find cheaper flights if you can avoid the July and August school holidays.
It's also worth bearing in mind that direct flights from the UK to Peru only operate between April and October, although there are year-round flights with quick connections in Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid.
